POSTAL RATE HIKE HAS CUSTOMERS LINING UP

Long lineThe 33-cent stamp is officially in purgatory, useful now only with the help of a measly 1-cent companion. But how important that 1-cent stamp now is! In preparation for the rate hike that went into effect Sunday, two-billion 1-cent squares were printed by the U. S. Postal Service and doled out to its numerous branches throughout the land.  Story

The Florence Township Redevelopment Agency may own the Roebling Steel Mill site after Feb. 16. Any parties with a financial interest in the 200-acre site must express their opposition to the proposed condemnation before the state Superior Court-ordered deadline that day.  Story

Francesca BartlettA Superior Court judge may count 39 contested absentee ballots from around Mercer County, possibly impacting the certified results of the Hopewell Township Committee race. For the votes to be counted, the legal team of John Hart, who lost election by a single vote to Francesca Bartlett, must prove the ballots arrived before deadline on election day.  Story

MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER

BODY OF MISSING EAST WINDSOR WOMAN FOUND IN PA.

First-degree murder charges were filed Wednesday against East Windsor resident James Hand in the death of his wife, Lori Ann Petrone-Hand. Ms. Hand had been missing since early October and family members reported the disappearance to East Windsor police on Oct. 10.  Story

RUSSIANS ACCUSE UNIVERSITY DOCTORAL CANDIDATE OF BEING 'CONTACT'

"I am not a spy," said Joshua Handler, 40, a Princeton Township resident and Princeton University graduate student. The head of the Russian internal security agency — the FSB — accused Mr. Handler of being a contact for an alleged spy who went on trial last week in Moscow.  Story
