SISTER CHARGED IN ARSON DEATH

FIRST ALLEGED HOMOCIDE IN MANVILLE SINCE 1997

Theresa Jasinski, 66, of South Street is awaiting arraignment on charges that she killed her older brother in a fire she is accused of setting at the house they shared. The death of Edward Jasinski, 75, is the first alleged homicide in Manville since 1997, said Manville Police Detective Sgt. Mark Sniscak.  Story

'RECKLESS RELEASE' OF ASBESTOS ALLEGED

The district's former business administrator is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on charges that he allowed asbestos to be released into the air during renovations at Roosevelt School in 1998. James Ronald Gossett, 60, of Andover Lane, Aberdeen, had retired just two days before he was charged Feb. 2 with "recklessly causing the release of a toxic pollutant, that is, asbestos," according to a news release from Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest.  Story
